UCBL is the abbreviation of University of California Biomechanics Laboratory− a place where it was developed in 1967. The UCBL is a simple yet rigid orthosis to stabilize the foot deformity and support the midfoot.
The orthosis is ideal for patients that have Posterior Tibialis Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD), adult acquired flatfoot, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs or fat pad atrophy. The UCBL comprises of an arch that helps to stabilize the midtarsal joint. One of the main features of the UCBL is the heel cup that holds the rearfoot in the correct position.
